The Siberian ginseng contains adaptogens. These are chemicals act as anti stressors. It also contains chemical compounds called phenylpropanoids and eleutherosides which are known to affect mood. It is believed that the Siberian ginseng affects mood by regulating the release of mood related neurotransmitters in a similar manner as antidepressant.

The passionflower contains chemicals that increase gamma aminobutyric acid levels in the brain. This neurotransmitter acts as a tranquilizer lowering brain activity without sedating the body. This results in the feeling of relaxation.

Black cohosh

This herb has been used to alleviate some of the symptoms associated with depression such as mood swings. The root of this plant is believed to contain chemicals which act on neurotransmitters which affect mood creating a balance. Patients taking this herb are reported to have better sleep and reduced stress levels.

Ginko biloba

The gingko Biloba plant has been used for centuries as an antidepressant. Extracts from this natural herbal remedy for depression have been studied and found to have antidepressant and anti-stress effects.

Lemon balm

Lemon balm has been used for centuries for the treatment of depression. This herb has sedative properties which help to calm the nerves reducing the symptoms of depression.
