How Herbs are beneficial in Treating Bronchitis

If you have extreme cough along with chest pain or when you wake up in the morning series of coughing welcome your new day – then might be you are suffering from Bronchitis. Bronchi are tubes that carry air deeper to lungs from the windpipe. When these airways inflamed, bronchitis occur.

There are two kinds of Bronchitis:

  • Acute Bronchitis

This condition is cause by virus or bacteria. About 90% infectious agents of acute bronchitis are viruses and rests are bacteria. The main symptoms are cough with chest pain, sputum production or wheezing. If you have cough for about three weeks and along with all three or any one of these symptoms then there is increase chance you have developed this disease.

  • Chronic Bronchitis

It is associated with the cough that last for about three months and this condition is present for more than two years. This condition has very diverse symptoms associated with lungs. Sputum produced may be of green or yellow color, it may also have some blood in it. Because of the airways inflammation there is shortness of breath. Extreme physical exertion can initiate episodes of coughing.

Herbal remedies for Bronchitis:

Herbs are the best way to treat any disease because if taken in limited quantity they don’t produce harm to the body and don’t have side effects.  The most common herbs that are used to treat bronchitis are:

Fresh Garlic Cloves

Garlic is full of health beneficial components. If 2-3 garlic cloves are taken on daily basis they can cure many diseases and good for lungs and heart health. If you have nagging cough that is making you restless, mesh garlic with honey and take it as cough syrup. It will help you to get rid of cough.

Licorice root

This root is beneficial in treating bronchitis because it has a property to coat throat. This property is helpful in decreasing cough and also it reduces inflammation of the airways. It is also found to be good in removing irritation in bronchitis.

Lobelia Tea

For dry cough and bronchitis, lobelia tea is very beneficial. It has anti-spasmodioc effect that also makes it beneficial to treat asthma. It relaxes the body and provides ease to muscles that relaxes the lungs muscles also and prevents coughing.

Echinacea

Echinacea can be helpful in preventing cold. Cold is also a reason of developing bronchitis. Many studies suggested that it can relieve bronchitis if taken 3 times daily.

Mullein

Mullein is found to be associated with mucus clearing in lungs. This property can be very helpful in treating bronchitis. For many years, it has been used as cough and respiratory problems treatments.

Peppermint

Peppermint has been in use for ages to treat the symptoms associated with cold and cough. It has menthol in it that has good medicinal properties. It has the property that thins the mucus and relieves the problem associated with sputum.

Ginseng

Ginseng is a very popular herb to treat the problems associated with bronchitis. It has beneficial effects on lungs inflammation. It reduces inflammation and gives relive from bronchitis. It also has the property to increase the immune system of the person that in turn helps those who are susceptible to this condition to be immune. It daily usage can decrease the chance of developing bronchitis.
